Michael Jurgens, MD

Dr. Jurgens, a native of Potomac, MD, is a board-certified radiologist who joined Roswell Radiology Associates (RRA) in July 2004.  His educational background includes his graduation, cum laude, from Duke University’s Biomedical Engineering program.  He earned his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine in Augusta, GA where he was Dean’s Student Research Fellow.  Dr. Jurgens then went on to an internship in general surgery at the University of Florida in Gainseville, FL, followed by his four-year residency in radiology in the Department of Radiology at the same institution where he was chief resident.

Dr. Jurgens has utilized his clinical and engineering training in a multitude of research projects and publications.  As part of his NSF/ERC Undergraduate Fellowship at Duke University, he performed computer simulations on Ultrasound Transducers, using results to measure performance of new transducers.  Among his publications are ones on dual radionuclide simultaneous biliary and gastric scintigraphy to evaluate surgical treatment of bile reflux, as well as modeling of piezoelectric multilayer ceramics using finite element analysis.  In addition, Dr Jurgens has been involved in the study and publication of articles on predictors of ambulatory blood pressure and imaging of the chest.

Dr. Jurgens is married to pediatrician Elizabeth Jurgens, M.D., a native of Atlanta, GA, and is a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiology Society of North America, and Society of Nuclear Medicine.  He is also fluent in Dutch.
