Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology bridges the gap between diagnosis and treatment by combining radiological imaging and surgical procedures. Using these two fields of medicine, physicians can repair brain aneurysms, clear arteries, stop strokes and heart attacks, and more.

Interventional radiology enables procedures and treatments through tiny incisions using miniature surgical tools. By relying on visual guidance provided by CT, MRI, ultrasound, or fluoroscopy, physicians can guide their tools in real time through thin tubes to precise locations within the body to repair problems. These techniques can be used in virtually all organ systems throughout the body.

The goal of interventional radiology is to provide less invasive alternatives for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that result in lower risks, less pain, and quicker recovery times.
